Option 4 - The New Deal

Chef imageThe New Deal is designed to help young unemployed people aged 18-24 who have been unemployed for six months or more to get back into work. It offers four options, all of which can last for up to six months and include education and training towards a qualification.

The options are:

  • A job with an employer;
  • A placement in the voluntary sector;
  • A place on the Environmental Taskforce in your community;
  • A full time education course related to work which is not more than one academic year (or 52 weeks in certain circumstances). This option is reserved for people who have yet to reach NVQ level 2 or equivalent (4 GCSE Grade Cs or above).
