Education at 16+
Which qualification is right for me?
These days there's a huge range of qualifications on offer that will help you get the skills and certificates you need to make the most of your life. Whether you'd like to go straight into work, stay at school, go to college, or even mix and match these options, there's something right for you. Don't be worried about the range available - talk to people at your school and your Connexions Personal Advisor, who should have all the latest information regarding the changes.
Where should I study?
Going to a further education (FE) college or school sixth form is very different to being at school. Before you decide where you'd like to study, think about these things:
- Would you prefer to stick with what you know, or do you fancy a change?
- Who provides the best facilities for what you'd like to study?
- Who offers the subjects you would like to study?
- How easy, and how expensive, will it be for you to get there?
- What do others who already study at your preferred place think of it?
If you're still at school, ask your teachers for help and advice in applying for college/ sixth form places. If you've left, ask your youth worker, visit your local Connexions Centre or drop into Grapevine. The addresses are at the end of this chapter.
